Hosted by the International Seafarers’ Welfare and Assistance Network (ISWAN) and supported by the ITF Seafarers’ Trust, SeafarerHelp is a confidential assistance service available to seafarers 24/7, 365 days, worldwide. Available in a wide range of languages, SeafarerHelp can be accessed via telephone, email, SMS, live-chat or letter.
A new website launched in November 2016 now comes in 9 different languages, provides multiple ways for seafarers and their families to get in touch, including by telephone, e-mail, Skype, text and a Live Chat feature.
Everyone, at some point or another, requires help, some good advice, guidance or counseling. Whilst a friendly ear is comparatively easier to access in a shore-based life, for those working at sea, it may be a great deal harder. Thousands of miles away from home, the close confines of a ship can sometimes be an isolating experience.
After contacting SeafarerHelp, trained staff will consider the options available, work with the seafarer concerned and decide what the best course of action is to follow. The team will always put seafarers in contact with the people best able to assist.
SeafarerHelp is a completely free service which is available to all seafarers and their family members, no matter where they might be in the world. If SeafarerHelp cannot help, they will always find somebody who can!Click here for more information
