Taking place in Manila on 22-24 March 2017, the 14th International Symposium on Maritime Health (ISMH14) will highlight both the most recent and and important emerging approaches to maritime health. Aiming to improve the health and quality of life of seafarersthis years theme is ‘Maritime Health & Shipping: A Dynamic Partnership’. The programme includes presentations of the latest scientific papers from invited keynote speakers as well as themed sessions and posters.
Speaking at the conference, Kimberly Karlshoej (Head of Trust) delivered a presentation entitled ‘The Ship’s Strategies for Physical and Mental Health Promotion in Seafarers’.
Health promotion and mental health awareness (namely social isolation, depression and suicide) have been the topics of two workshops held by the Trust in 2016. Priorities for action have since been developed on the back of the workshops (attended by experts external and internal to the maritime sector) and will be published in forthcoming strategy booklets developed by the Trust.For more information on ISMH14 click here
