2019 Vehicle Survey / Vehicle Replacement Programme

The Seafarers’ Trust has now opened its 2019 Vehicle Survey. Introduced in 2016, the Vehicle Replacement Programme (VRP) not only maps the availability of vehicles to transport seafarers, but streamlines the process to replace vehicles, improve the quality of grant requests received and assists the Trust in proactively decide, according to the information provided in the survey, when and where a new vehicle is most needed. In 2019 we spent around 720,000 GBP in grants towards 21 vehicles, picked from the master list resulting from the survey.

This year we need to relaunch the survey in order to have more up-to-date results and seafarers’ centres and seafarers’ welfare organisations can complete the survey about their current vehicles and usage at the link below. Once the survey is complete, we will be able to invite some Seafarers’ Centres to apply to replace their vehicle for the Spring session in 2020 and we will use the same data until 2021. Funds are limited, so just some of the survey’s participants will be invited to apply.

Completion of the survey does not constitute an application to the ITF Seafarers’ Trust, nor does it guarantee future funding for a vehicle.  Nevertheless, centres and welfare organisations with vehicles completing this survey will help the Trust to more effectively and equitably distribute its funds and will ultimately lead to the improvement of seafarers’ welfare worldwide. According to the information provided in the survey, The Trust will be then able to choose the vehicles that need to be replaced more urgently.

The deadline to take part in the survey is the 31st of January 2020.
