The Mariners’ Club Hong Kong Launch sets sail!

Over the past 34 years, the Seafarers’ Trust has awarded over £2.4 million in funds to purchase vehicles to transport seafarers in and around the port.

When the Mariners’ Club, Hong Kong approached the Seafarers’ Trust with plans to replace their ageing 20-year old launch last year, we thought it would be a great opportunity to demonstrate the many ways in which the Seafarers’ Trust provides funds to organisations that work for the benefit of seafarers.

The purpose of the launch is to make contact with the seafarers who would have no other way to get to shore, to provide them with communications on board such as telephone cards and WiFi, and to attend to various spiritual and pastoral concerns the seafarers may have.

From July 2015 to December 2015 over 16,600 crew have benefited from the ship visits and a total of 16,520 ships have been visited so far.

If you believe your organisation could benefit from a similar vessel or vehicle (or indeed any other relevant mode of transportation) do not hesitate to get in touch with the Trust and make an application.
