The ITF Seafarers’ Trust proudly showcased a curated selection of photographs by Indian seafarers from its Life at Sea archive during ITF Seafarers EXPO Mumbai, held from 29–31 January 2026.
Now in its sixth year, the project has received more than 13,000 entries from seafarers worldwide. Images from the collection have been exhibited internationally, including at museums and institutions such as the International Labour Organization (ILO) and the International Maritime Organisation (IMO).
At the ITF Seafarers EXPO Mumbai, the Trust presented a special collection featuring Indian seafarers’ work, including photographs by Parwaz Mukandam, winner of the Life at Sea 2025 competition. His first‑prize image, “When Nature Takes Command”, captivated judges for its powerful depiction of life at sea. Parwaz attended the event and met with Grant Manager Luca Tommasi.
Reflecting on the experience, Parwaz shared:
“It was an honour to have my two photos exhibited and a privilege to meet Luca to discuss seafarers’ life at sea, access to shore leave, and the photo competition.”
Luca Tommasi added:
“Meeting the seafarers behind these amazing photos is very special to us. Congratulations again to Parwaz for winning first prize.”
The exhibition served as a celebration of seafarers’ resilience, creativity, and lived experiences—capturing not only the challenges they face, but also the beauty and camaraderie of life at sea.
